Starts on Saturday 10th October (10.00 am -12.00 pm) every Saturday for 6 weeks run by actors Michael Grady-Hall and Rebecca Newman.
Our Bold & Brave workshop programme takes the fear out of auditioning by choosing, reading and preparing your speeches in a small focused group of aspiring actors who are all in the process of applying for drama school. act up’s practitioners are all working professionals and bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and encouragement for actors about to start on their own journey. This six week workshop will build your confidence and build a process for selecting drama school speeches. We limit the participants to between 6-8 people to allow for detailed feedback for everyone.
The workshop will cover:
Week 1: All participants will bring along between two to four classical speeches that they like. These speeches will be read out to the group. As a group, you will discuss casting and the suitability of each speech.
Week 2: All participants will bring along between two to four modern/contemporary speeches that they like. These speeches will be read out to the group, you will discuss as a group casting and the suitability of each speech. We will look at both the modern and classical speeches to make sure that both speeches show sufficient range for auditioning.
Week 3: This week is all about working on the classical speeches with the group.
Week 4: This week is all about working on the modern / contemporary speeches with the group. We’ll explore singing for an audition and you’ll be taken through some vocal exercises to build this skill alongside your speeches.
Week 5: This week the group will start building towards the sharing in week six.
Week 6: Participants must prepare in their own time to be off-book for this session. Participants will show the group where you are with your speeches in an informal sharing of your work.
